What are the Types of Water Insulation?

For centuries, builders like attic insulation company oshawa have been trying to fight the damp, which is the biggest enemy of building materials. The need for quality protection against underground and atmospheric water has led to the invention of today's waterproofing materials, which with time and technological advances are becoming more and more perfect compared to those used about ten years ago.

The types of waterproofing materials used today have excellent technical characteristics. They not only perform perfectly their purpose to protect the internal and external parts of buildings but are also constructed in a way that facilitates their application.

Building a quality moisture protection does not take long, because the manufacturer has made it as easy and comfortable as possible. This applies to both roller membranes and liquid waterproofing, which are applied by brush coating.

What types of waterproofing are used today?

According to their form and method of application, the waterproofing can be divided into two categories:
  1. Roll waterproofing - in the form of elastic membranes;
  2. Liquid - one that is applied by coating.

The waterproofing, which is available in the form of rolls, is the one most widely used in the construction of reliable waterproofing of different parts of buildings and facilities. It is a preferred material due to its significantly higher density and better ability to provide maximum surface protection.

According to the chemical components used in their manufacture, the rolls of water-proof membranes are:
  1.     Bitumen waterproofing;
  2.     PVC waterproofing;
  3.     FPO waterproofing.

Bitumen waterproofing is one of the most common and used varieties. The oldest type is the oxidized bitumen, known as the veil, which is used less and less because of its significantly lower quality compared to bituminous rolled sheets modified with APP (Attach Polypropylene) or SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene latex rubber).

Bitumen membranes are made of high quality distilled bitumen, modified with polymers, atactic polypropylene (APP), and selectively selected stabilizer filler. Its unique qualities are most pronounced in its two main features: heat and cold resistance.

The bitumen composite, due to its specific formula, is slightly sensitive to aging caused by UV rays and is resistant to mechanical impact allowing it to walk through the membranes in the process of application as well as at high outdoor temperatures. Bitumen waterproofing

Bituminous membranes with special application are a great choice for waterproofing, bridges, garden roofing.

Bitumen waterproofing, in addition to its long service life, also has a high elasticity and perfect adhesion, which affords its application not only on horizontal but also on vertical surfaces such as the walls of any part of a building or facility, including its walls, dug in soil foundations.

Bitumen tarpaulins designed for gas-tight gluing usually have a thickness of 3 to 5 mm. Those with a thickness of less than 2.5 mm are suitable for laying and mechanical fastening under ceramic, bitumen, concrete and other roof tiles.
